Do I have to meet any financial conditions?

Yes, as a starting point, your annual income must not exceed the amount limit set in bekendtgørelse nr. 1523 af 8. december 2023 for Færøerne om fri proces.

When the High Commissioner’s Office assesses whether you meet the financial conditions, the starting point is your annual income for the previous calendar year, i.e. that the assessment is based on your annual statement from 2022, if you apply for free trial in 2024.

If you are married or cohabiting, the assessment of the financial conditions is also based on your spouse's or cohabiting partner's annual income. In addition, it is important for the assessment of the financial conditions whether you have children under the age of 18 who either live with you or are predominantly supported by you.

The applicable income limits are:

• DKK 371,000 for single applicants
• DKK 471,000 for married or cohabiting applicants
• DKK 64,000 in increase for each child.

If your current income has changed significantly since the previous annual statement, the assessment may instead depend on your current income conditions, i.e. that there e.g. can be based on your pay slips for the past three months.
