The difference between an administrative and a normal CPR number

An administrative CPR number is an actual CPR number, which is issued on another background than registration of residence in the CPR registry, i.e. a CPR number that is issued without having a residential address in Denmark.

A person can only have one CPR number. If a Faroese person who has been issued an administrative CPR number later moves to Denmark, he or she shall register his or her change of address to the Danish municipality in which he or she resides. The municipality will then register the new residential address in the CPR registry under the CPR number the person has already been issued with.

An administrative CPR number does not entail in itself any derived rights stated in other legislation. An administrative CPR number bears no significance in relation to the rights to services established in other legislation, e.g. health services and student grants.
